Nature as Teacher (aka Pause)
The Earth is never done teaching us lessons,
If only we are present enough to hear
The songs of birds rejoicing a new day
The gentle waves whispering impermanence in our ear
What can we learn from the calm patience of the buds Opening a sliver more each day
No reaching or searching; trusting roots and light
To guide them to flower in their own time and way
Whether it is snowflakes or grains of sand
How we delight that no two are the same
What it would be to let that lesson be our guide
To knowing the true worth of our unique flame
We rush and build and do and wonder why
Our bodies are weary, yet we do not let them be
Nature does not hurry, nature doesn't try
What if it is in the pause that we are free
